The Weekly Radio Show from the St. Louis Classical Guitar Society

  • Week of January 23, 2017: Our show this week features St. Louis favorites of "Duo Noire"—Chris Mallett and Thomas Flippin, who will be making their 4th St. Louis residency next week. Their visits to St. Louis area public schools will inspire all students who hear them, and all are invited as our guests to hear their upcoming Saturday evening community performance on our Great Artist Series! Also we couldn't resist adding in some selections from our local Hanser McClellan Guitar Duo for an all duo guitar show!

  • Week of January 16, 2017: Time to get back to basics! Let's hear American guitarist David Leisner, a well-respected J.S. Bach interpreter, play his all-Bach program for us. In addition, David is one of the few musicians of any instrument to have found his own methods of recovery for focal dystonia in his right hand. A fascinating and heart-warming story indeed!

  • Week of January 9, 2017: Tune in for this fresh, eclectic show, featuring Konrad Ragossnig, Guitar (& Lute) with Walter Feybli, guitar. Mostly music of Latin America, with a beautidul Sarabande of J.S. Bach thrown in for good measure!

  • Week of January 2, 2017: Lets start the new year with some new Sonatas (at least new to Inside Classical Guitar)! “Novecento Guitar Sonatas Revisited– Cristiano Porqueddo.” That is, sonatas from the second half of the 20th century performed by Italian guitarist Cristiano Porqueddo. Music of Evgeny Anatolyevich Baev, Gilbert Biberian, Alfred Uhl, Franco Cavallone.

  • Week of December 26, 2016: Let's revisit a performer we sponsored on our Great Artist Series in fall of 2009: Spanish guitarist Ignacio Rodes. How about we listen to him play an iconic Spanish composer? Will Joaquin Rodrigo qualify?Listen in for our all-Rodrigo program!

  • Week of December 19, 2016: The Holidays are here, and this week's program is unapologetically on point! Holiday music featuring traditional carols and unexpected treats, with guitarists Christopher Parkening, Andrew York, Stephen Pasero, the Small-Torres Duo, and St. Louis favs Douglas Niedt and John McClellan!

  • Week of December 12, 2016: A program built around the ubiquitous "Prelude"--so named even though in the world of guitar they often stand alone! This program conceived by American guitarist Jack Sanders--so we'll play along!. Inthis cas, all music from south of the border as well.

  • Week of December 5, 2016: Join us for “Works for the Violin and the Guitar.” Music of Niccolò Paganini and Mauro Giuliani. Performed by Itzhak Perlman, violin, John Williams, guitar; and by Julian Gray, guitar, with members of the Diaz Trio.
