Highlights: We talk with special in-studio guest and local St.Louis guitarist Patrick Rafferty, who will play live in-studio renditions of Marieta and Rosita by Francisco Tarrega (1852-1909). Patrick received his graduate Diploma of Music from the Peabody Conservatory of Music in Baltimore, Maryland, where he studied with Julian Gray.

Highlights:  A look across the Divide . . .Guitar Music from the Far East. Music from the phenomenal Chinese guitarists Xuefei Yang, Meng Su, and Yameng Wang, playing music of Sergio Assad, Dietmar Ungerrank, and Tan Dun. Also music of Japanese guitarist/composer Shingo Fujii performed with William Kanengiser, and Japanese guitarist Kaori Muraji playing music of Toru Takemitsu.

Highlights: We feature the music of Spanish guitarist Fernando Sor (1778-1839), with a survey of both his famous studies and more substantial forms, including society pieces and the Grand Solo opus 14, with performances by John Williams, Norbert Kraft, Marc Teicholz, Goran Krivokapic, Eduardo Fernandez, and Steven Novacek.

Highlights: We follow up our program on the music of Fernando Sor with music of his friend and colleague Dionisio Aguado (1784-1849). We'll hear Estudios played by both Andres Segovia and Norbert Kraft, then selections from his opus 2, Three Rondo Brilliants by both Julian Bream and David Russell. The show concludes with Les deux amis, Op 41 by Fernando Sor, written specifically by Sor to be played by himself and Aguado, performed by Robert Kubica & Wilma van Berkel.

Music by David Starobin, Michael Cedric Smith, Ricardo Cobo, followed by exemplary students of Manuel Barrueco:  Franco Patino and Marija Temo. Composers Guilio Regondi, Fernando Sor, J.K. Mertz, Frederico Moreno Torroba, Leo Brouwer.

Program Highlights: Join us as we speak with both classical guitarist Jack Cimo and the LA Guitar Duo--guitarists Bryan Fasola and Donovan Butez--interviewed at the Tavern of Fine Arts for their performances July 28 and 29. They were here in St. Louis as part of the "Rifftime on Route 66 Linear Music Festival,"  traveling along Route 66 performing in cities, towns and roadsides from Chicago to Los Angeles. We get an advance hearing of music of J.S. Bach from Jack's soon-to-be-release CD, as well as music for cello and guitar with Duo Sogno.

Highlights:  Continuing our exploration of the music of 19th Century virtuoso guitarist and composer Mauro Giuliani (1781-1829), this show presents some of his music composed for ensembles which included guitar duo, guitar with violin or flute, trio music for violin, guitar and cello, and the first of his three concertos for string orchestra, opus 30 in A.

Highlights:  Continuing our exploration of the early 19th century guitar scene in Europe we listen to the music of 19th Century virtuoso guitarist and composer Mauro Giuliani (1781-1829), with performances of his music for solo guitar by Timothy Walker, Mary Akerman, David Starobin, Adam Holzman, and Vladimir Gorbach.

Highlights:  Our second show of the summer on the music of Spanish guitarist/composer Fernando Sor (1778-1839), this show dedicated to music for guitar duet. We'll sample music from the 2-CD set of Sor's complete guitar duet music, performed by guitarists Robert Kubica & Wilma van Berkel. We'll hear selections from Opera 44, 55, 61,62, and 63--including waltzes, divertimenti, and the Souvenirs of Russia.
